Keyboarding
(All Levels)

Learn to type quickly and efficiently with this step-by-step small-group typing course. This class will cover basic word processing techniques and help students feel more comfortable with the keyboard. Class limit: 5

Adapted Technology: Dragon Naturally Speaking
(All Levels)

Learn how to use Dragon Naturally Speaking voice-recognition software. Speak your writing assignments to your computer instead of typing. Class requirements: PC laptop, DNS software, headset with microphone, internet connection, and workbook. Class Limit: 5

Adapted Technology: Text-to-Speech
(All Levels)

Download and learn how to use ReadPlease and TextAloud text-to-speech software. This software will read the text on your PC aloud to you. You will use study skills to increase your comprehension as you read/listen to internet text. Class requirements: PC laptop, headset, wireless internet and workbook. Class limit: 5

Writer's Workshop
(Junior High and High School)

Midddle School and High School students will develop a successful approach to the writing process within the structure of a small group class. Learn the application of grammar and mechanics to build more complex sentences and narratives. Class limit: 6

The Art of Being a Student
(Junior High and High School)

This study-skills class is designed to help students acquire practical study techniques including test-taking, note-taking, reading comprehension, writing strategies, organization, and time management. Class limit: 6

Adult Learning, Remembering and Thinking (ALeRT)

In this class, all participants will acquire a better understanding of their current learning and memory (LM) profile and then apply it to choosing brain-stimulating exercises as you live your life. Class limit: 15

ALeRT Session 1 (Information)

Learn about the most recent theories and studies regarding the Mind (Brain), Mood (Emotion), and Memory as you consider your own profile.

ALeRT Session 2 (Lab)

You will be applying the information learned in ALeRT 1 (theories and studies) as they apply to you. Emphasis will be on activities.

Note: You can attend one or both sessions of ALeRT (Information and/or Lab), and one is not a pre-requisite for the other.
