Executive functioning is in the DLS approach to building flexibility of learning - we integrate executive functioning skills in everything our learning specialists do.

Many fields are discovering the importance of executive functioning in all learners, especially those with learning differences, ADHD, anxiousness, autism, and sensory motor delays.

At DLS, we understand how to break down the complex process of developing executive functioning skills and making them usable to the learner. And the more learners understand what they need, the more they can develop flexibility of learning for academic success.

What We Work On:
 

• Helping learners build their educational purpose to uncover the motivation and goals that will fuel the hard work of new EF&S acquisition
• Developing skills to reflect on the learners’ own performance in nonjudgmental ways – so they can gain knowledge instead of feeling bad
• Working closely with the learners’ unique learning styles to develop tools such as organizers, calendars, binders, etc.
• Helping students to discover the thoughts and feelings that propel them forward, as well as how to work with those that hold them back
• Guiding self-awareness so students learn to communicate their specific needs to teachers, tutors, family members and more
• Giving learners opportunities to discover their own specific learning characteristics (such as auditory, visual, grapho-motor, working memory processing areas, etc.) while helping the development of some areas and the adaption to others
